In a temple there are 25 cylindrical pillars. The radius of each pillar is 28cm and height 4m. The total cost of painting the curved surface area of pillars at the rate of Rs. 8 per m2 is:

A)

Rs. 1408

B)

Rs. 1760

C)

Rs. 1480

D)

Rs. 2520

Correct Answer :

Rs. 1408

Explanation :

Let radius r = 28 cm,
height h = 4 m = 4 x 100 cm = 400 cm

curved surface area of one pillar = 2πrh = 2 x 22/7 x 28 x 400 = 70,400 cm2

Then, curved surface area of 25 pillars = 70400 x 25 = 1760000 cm2
= 1760000/10000 m2 = 176 m2

Now, Cost of 25 cylindrical pillars painting = 176 x 8 = Rs 1408

A 5 cm cube is cut into as many 1 cm cubes as possible. What is the ratio of the surface area of the larger cube to the smaller cubes?

A)

1/6

B)

1/5

C)

1/25

D)

1/125

Correct Answer :

1/5

Explanation :

The volume of the original cube = 53 = 125 cm3.
The volume of a smaller cubes = 13 = 1 cm3.
Therefore, we will be get total smaller cubes = 125/1 = 125

The surface area of the larger cube = 6*a2 = 6(52) = 6 * 25 = 150
The surface area of each of the smaller cubes = 6 (12) = 6.
Therefore, surface area of all of the 125, 1 cm3 cubes = 125 * 6 = 750.

Hence, the required ratio = 150 / 750 = 1 / 5
